The title is an Anglicized spelling of the Hebrew name of the principle character
(cf. Song of Solomon 6:13). This story is a metaphorical handling of the principle
ingredient for a believer to qualify for Bridehood in the age to come.
In the Song, of course, it is God's covenant people.
That people is viewed in
various stages of spiritual maturity as the lady yearns for closer fellowship
with her lover, the King (Messiah), which we take to be Solomon in the story.
